Setting Up Stripe Payments

Connect your Stripe account so you can collect entry fees and receive payouts.

Old World Rankings uses Stripe to securely process tournament registration payments. This guide walks you through connecting your Stripe account so you can start collecting entry fees from players. Stripe keeps your financial and identity details secure and does not share them with OWR.

Step 1: connect your Stripe account

Go to Settings > Payments in your OWR account. The Payment Account section explains what you will need:

  • Government-issued ID for verification.
  • Bank account details (routing and account number, or BSB and account number).
  • Tax ID, or the last 4 of your SSN in the US.

Click Connect with Stripe to begin.

Step 2: confirm your country

Stripe needs to know the country your bank account is in, as it determines your payout currency and the details required. Make sure this matches where you bank before continuing.

Step 3: enter your business details

Stripe asks how you earn money with Old World Rankings.

Industry. Search for "ticketing" and select Event ticketing under Entertainment and recreation. This best describes running tabletop gaming tournaments.

Website. You have two options. Enter your OWR tournament page URL (for example, https://oldworldrankings.com/au/tournaments/your-tournament-slug), or click "Don't have a website? Add product description instead" and write a short description. You can copy and paste:

I organize tabletop wargaming tournaments for the Old World miniatures game. Players pay entry fees to participate in competitive events, with fees covering venue costs and prize support.

Other details Stripe may ask. Business type: select Individual unless you are a registered business or club. What you sell: event tickets or tournament entry fees. Expected transaction amounts: typical entry fees (for example, $20 to $50 per player).

Step 4: add your bank account

Enter your bank account details so Stripe knows where to send your payouts. Double-check these, as incorrect details will delay your payouts.

Step 5: verify your identity

Stripe requires identity verification for regulatory compliance. Enter your legal name (as it appears on official documents), date of birth, home address, and phone number.

Step 6: review and submit

Stripe shows a summary of everything you have entered: business type, professional details, personal details, and payout bank account. Review each section, click Edit if anything needs correcting, and when you are happy click Agree and submit.

Step 7: you are all set

Once submitted, you will see confirmation that your account has been onboarded. Return to OWR, and your tournament can now accept payments through Stripe. Enable Accept payments via OWR on the Dates & Payment tab to start collecting entry fees.
