Singles, Doubles & Teams Explained
The three tournament formats on OWR and how they differ for players.
Tournaments on OWR run in one of three formats. The format is chosen by the organiser when they create the event, and it shapes how you register, who you are paired with, and how results are shared.
The three formats
- Singles - one player versus one player. You bring your own army and your results are your own. This is the most common format.
- Doubles - two players per team, playing as a pair. You and your partner share a team result.
- Teams - three or more players per team. Teams face off and the team's overall performance decides placings.
You can see an event's format at a glance on its listing and on the registration screen, alongside the army points, rounds, and other details.
What changes in doubles and teams
- Your pairing card shows your team. In doubles and team events, the Match and Pairings tabs show your team name and your partner (their name and faction) alongside your own details.
- Partners share a result. Both partners in a pairing share the same match result and score, rather than each carrying a separate one.
- Army lists stay individual. Each player still submits their own army list for their own faction.
What stays the same
Whatever the format, you still create an account and player profile, register for the event, submit your army list, check in on event day, and use the Battle Hub to find your table and follow standings. The rest of this section covers the doubles and team specifics.
Army points
The army points limit is set by the organiser and shown on the event page. In doubles and team events, check the player pack for how points are allocated per player, since this varies between events.
