Teams and Doubles Setup

Build teams, choose captains and set team grudge matches on the Teams or Doubles tab.

For doubles and teams events, the dashboard has an extra tab under Setup, right after Attendees. It is called Doubles for a doubles event and Teams for a teams event. This is where you put players into teams, choose captains and set up team grudge matches.

Players appear here once they have a confirmed spot on the Attendees tab. Players who are waitlisted or still waiting to pay are not shown until they are confirmed.

Doubles teams are always two players. For a teams event, set Team Size on the Overview tab. A team cannot have more players than this.

Everything on this tab takes effect straight away. You do not need the Save button here.

At a glance

The bar at the top shows how many teams you have and, in amber, how many unpaired players are not on a team yet. Use Search teams... (or Search doubles...) to find a team by its name or a player's name.

Building teams

Players who join a team with its join code arrive already grouped. For anyone else, build teams in one of two ways.

Drag and drop

  1. Find the player under Unpaired Players at the bottom.
  2. Drag them into the Create Team box (Drop players here to create a new team).
  3. Keep adding players. When the box holds a full team, the team is created and named after its players, for example "Anna & Ben".

Dragging also lets you fix teams later:

  • Drag an unpaired player onto a team to add them.
  • Open a team with the arrow and drag a member onto another team to move them.
  • Drag a member into Unpaired Players to take them off their team.

If a team is already full you will see Team is full.

Create Team button

  1. Click Create Team in the top bar.
  2. Choose Player 1 and Player 2. The Team Name fills in for you; change it if you like.
  3. Click Create Team.

This creates a two-player team. For bigger teams, drag the rest of the players onto it.

Reading a team row

Each team shows its name, its players, its win-loss-draw record and points. Badges flag anything that needs attention:

  • 2/4 players (or similar): the team is not full yet.
  • Incomplete: at least one member has dropped.
  • Paid or Awaiting Payment: whether the captain has paid the team's entry.
  • A grudge badge naming the team they are locked against.
  • Dropped: the team has been dropped from the event.

Open a team with the arrow to see each member's faction and record. The captain has a crown. The Join Code is the code players use to join this team. Click Copy to copy it, or the refresh icon to make a new code and email it to the captain.

Captains and team names

Open the ⋮ menu on a team and choose Edit Team. You can change the Team Name and pick the Captain, then click Save in the window.

A team you build yourself has no captain until you pick one. Set a captain for every team. You need one to set up a grudge match, and captains handle some team scoring and voting.

Team grudge matches

A grudge match locks two teams together for round 1. Pairing generation keeps the match and pairs everyone else around it.

  1. Make sure both teams have a captain.
  2. Open the ⋮ menu on one team and choose Setup Grudge Match.
  3. Pick the opposing team and click Set Grudge.

To remove it, choose Clear Grudge (vs team name) from the same menu. It is cleared straight away.

Dropping and deleting teams

  • Delete Team: breaks the team up. Its players stay in the event and go back to Unpaired Players. Use this while you are still building teams.
  • Drop Team (once the event has started): drops every member and leaves the team out of future pairings. Reinstate Team brings them back.
  • If a single member drops, open the team and click the X next to them to remove them from the team.

In doubles, a team can still be paired with one active player. In a teams event, a team needs a full roster to be paired, so a dropped player takes their whole team out of pairings. If a player has to leave a teams event, keep them on the roster and score their game instead.
