Your Dashboard: Setup and Game Day
How the organiser dashboard is split into Setup and Game Day, what lives where, and what the buttons in the top bar do.
Your tournament dashboard has two modes. You build the event in Setup and run it in Game Day.
The Setup / Game Day switch
The switch sits in the bar across the top of the dashboard, next to the Save button. On a phone it runs full width under your Published badge and buttons. Tap Setup or Game Day to change mode. Each mode has its own row of tabs.
Setup tabs
- Overview
- Dates & Payment
- Documents
- Staff
- Attendees
- Doubles or Teams (doubles and teams events only)
- Comp
- Scoring
- Rounds
- Communications
Game Day tabs
- Pairings: pair each round, check players in, enter scores and complete rounds.
- Doubles Standings or Team Standings (doubles and teams events only).
- Standings (called Individual Standings in doubles and teams events).
- Soft Scores, only if you set up soft score categories. Teams events can show Team Soft Scores and Individual Soft Scores instead.
- Battle Board: the controls for your venue screen.
The dashboard remembers the last tab you used in each mode, so switching back takes you where you left off.
On the event day
From the first day of your event (in the event's own time zone), or as soon as you start a round:
- Opening your event's dashboard takes you straight to Game Day > Pairings.
- If you are in Setup, a pulsing green dot on the Game Day switch reminds you the event is live.
This stays on until you complete the tournament. Once the event is running you should only need Setup to fix something, such as a scoring setting.
Saving your changes
Setup tabs share one Save button in the top bar. Nothing on a Setup tab saves by itself.
- Make your changes on any tab. The Save button lights up.
- Click Save. The button greys out again when everything is saved.
If you try to change tab or switch mode with unsaved changes, an Unsaved Changes box asks what to do: Save & Continue, Discard Changes, or Cancel to stay where you are.
Game Day actions take effect the moment you click them. Pairing a round, checking a player in, entering a score and the Battle Board controls have nothing to save.
The top bar buttons
- Draft, Published or Complete: the badge on the left shows where your event is up to.
- Publish (draft events only): makes the event visible so players can register. If you charge an entry fee and Stripe is not finished, a Payment Setup Incomplete warning appears first. See Setting Up Stripe Payments.
- Complete Tournament (shortened to Complete on a phone): appears once the event is under way. It publishes your results to Old World Rankings. It glows green when every round is complete and results are revealed. See Running Game Day: Pairings and Players.
- Results: appears after you complete the tournament and opens the public results page.
- Help with this screen: opens the help article for the tab you are on. On a phone it shows as a question mark icon.
- Save: saves your Setup changes, described above.
- Battle Board: opens your venue screen in a new browser tab, ready to put on a projector or TV. See The Battle Board (Venue Screen).
- The arrow menu on the far right holds less common actions: View Event, Registration Page, Player Battle Hub (only if you are also playing), Unpublish, Hide Results from Battle Board, Reopen Tournament, Reset Round Data and My Events. For reopening and resetting, see Fixing Mistakes on Game Day.
If you have used OWR before
A few things have moved:
- Checking players in, dropping no-shows and adding late arrivals now happen on Game Day > Pairings > Players, not the Attendees tab.
- Who can see pairings and standings is now set in Setup > Dates & Payment under What Players & Followers See, not on the Battle Board tab.
- Communications is a Setup tab only.
