The Battle Board (Venue Screen)
Put live pairings, the round timer and announcements on a projector or TV, and control them from Game Day > Battle Board.
The Battle Board (Venue Screen) shows live pairings, the round timer, scores and announcements on a projector or TV at your event. You control it from the Battle Board tab under Game Day.
You run the rounds themselves (pairing, publishing, starting, scoring and completing) on the Pairings tab. See Running Game Day: Pairings and Players.
Put the Battle Board on your screen
- On the computer connected to your projector or TV, open your dashboard and click Battle Board in the top bar. It opens in a new browser tab. Make it full screen.
- Go to Game Day > Battle Board.
- Under Venue Screen, click Start. Until you do, the screen shows an "awaiting" message instead of live data. Click Stop to go back to that message.
- Pick a Theme: Dark, Light, Projector Dark or Projector Light. The projector themes use high contrast so they read better across a room.
The Battle Board controls take effect straight away, with nothing to save. Scores on the screen update live as they come in (shown as Live Scores: Automatic).
What shows on the screen
- The round's pairings, once you click Publish Pairings.
- The round timer counting down, once you click Start Round.
- Scores, as players submit them.
- Standings between rounds, if you have turned them on.
- Final results, once you click Reveal Results to Players & Battle Board on the Pairings tab (or complete the tournament).
Who can see pairings and standings
Set this in Setup > Dates & Payment, in the What Players & Followers See card. The Battle Board tab links straight there. These settings change what players and followers see everywhere, as well as on your venue screen.
- Public live pairings: on means anyone with the Battle Board link can open it, pairings show on the event page, and followers get round emails. Off means only staff and the players in your event see pairings, and the Battle Board link is staff-only.
- Standings between rounds: on means players see standings and their rank in the Battle Hub, on the event page and on the Battle Board. Off means only score submission progress shows until you reveal final results.
Click Save in the top bar after changing either one.
Timer controls
The Timer Controls card follows the round in play:
- When a round's pairings are published but it has not started, the card says the round is ready. Click Start Round here if you are standing at the screen. It does the same as Start Round on the Pairings tab.
- While a round is running, you see the Time Remaining. Click Pause to stop the clock (for example, for a fire drill or lunch) and Resume to restart it.
- To change the clock, type a number of minutes and click Set Remaining.
The round length comes from your event's round time in Setup.
Announcements
- Click Send Announcement.
- Type your Message, for example "Lunch is ready" or "15 minutes left, finish your current turn".
- Choose a Display Duration: 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, Custom (in seconds) or Until dismissed.
- Click Send to Battle Board.
Your announcements are listed on the card with the time left. Click the cross to take one off the screen early, or the arrow to show an expired one again.
Preview before the day
Under Preview Mode, click Open Preview to see how your Battle Board will look with the scenarios you set on the Rounds tab. Try it once on the real projector before the event.
