Comp
Tag your event's army comp and, for singles and teams, set up tiered comp that scales Victory Points by faction tier.
The Comp tab (under Setup) is where you tell OWR which army composition ("comp") rules your event uses. It does two things:
- Tags the comp on your event, so players can see it and find lists built for it.
- Optionally runs a tiered comp, where stronger factions bring fewer points and the Victory Points scored against bigger armies are scaled down to keep games fair.
If your event has no comp, you can skip this tab.
Tag your comp
The Army Comp card is always at the top.
- Click Select or type the comp(s) this event used….
- Pick your comp from the Official or Community list. If yours is not listed, type its name to add it.
- Click Save in the bar at the top of the dashboard.
The tag shows on your event page and in the army list comp filters. Tagging on its own does not change any scores.
Set up a tiered comp (singles and teams)
Tiered comp is in beta. It uses a Kill Point Modifier (KPM) for each tier of factions. Doubles events can tag their comp, but tiered comp is not available for doubles yet: the tab shows Not available for doubles yet.
How it works
- Each faction sits in a tier. Each tier has its own army size (Max pts). Weaker factions get a bigger army.
- Each tier also has a KPM. When you play against an army from that tier, the VP you score is multiplied by its KPM before the result is worked out.
- Example: with a target of 2000 points, a tier that brings 2400 points has a KPM of 0.83. Scoring 1500 VP against that army counts as 1245 VP.
- Factions you do not put in a tier play at the target size with a KPM of 1.00, so their VP is not changed.
Players enter their normal VP in the Battle Hub. OWR does the scaling for you, and army lists at the event are set to their tier's points.
Create the comp
- In Create a comp, open Start from and pick a ready-made comp (for example Square Based Comp or Tavern Comp), or click Create blank.
- Check Target effective points. This is the baseline army size, usually your event's points. Each tier's KPM is worked out as the target divided by that tier's Max pts.
- For each tier, set the Tier name and Max pts. The KPM and the effective points update on their own.
- Open a tier with the arrow and pick its factions. Adding a faction to one tier takes it out of any other.
- Click Add tier for more tiers, or the bin icon to remove one.
- Check Unassigned factions at the bottom. Anything listed there plays at a KPM of 1.00. If it says Every faction is in a tier, you are done.
- Click Save.
Overriding a KPM
You can type your own KPM for a tier. That tier then keeps your value when you change the target. To go back to the worked-out value, click the reset arrow next to the KPM.
Removing the comp
Click Delete comp at the bottom, then Click again to delete to confirm. You can also click the X next to the comp's name at the top. Either way the tiered comp is removed straight away. Your comp tags stay.
When to set it up
Tiered comp changes how every game is scored and the points size of every list. Set it up before players submit lists, and do not change it once round 1 has started.
